About Monique

Originally from The Netherlands, Reflexology and Aromatherapy first crossed Monique’s path in 1994, while she was living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. At the time, she was working in a demanding role in tourism and searching for more balance, calm, and connection in her life. On a whim — or perhaps guided by something deeper — Monique enrolled in a weekend workshop in Reflexology and Aromatherapy.

What she remembers most vividly from that experience was the deep sense of stillness that lingered for days afterwards. It was as if something inside her had quietly realigned — a soft awakening that never truly left.

Many years later, life brought Monique to Melbourne where that early spark has grown into a heartfelt vocation. Today, her practice ‘Intuitive Heartwork’ weaves together reflexology, the intuitive use of essential oils, the connection with the breath and the importance of sacred intention. Her work offers a space for people to connect within, to feel supported, to feel safe and nurtured.

Monique has been a professional member of the Reflexology Association of Australia (RAoA) since graduating in 2005. Over the years, she has contributed to the Association in many meaningful ways — serving on the Victorian Branch Committee, coordinating special events, and convening the 2014 RAoA National Conference in Melbourne.

Currently, Monique holds the position of Chair of the Victorian Branch, a role through which she is dedicated to building community, fostering collaboration, and increasing public awareness of reflexology. Her leadership focuses on creating opportunities for practitioners to connect, share knowledge, and grow both personally and professionally.

Passionate about promoting reflexology as an integral part of holistic health and well‑being, Monique continues to put reflexology “on the map” by encouraging professional excellence, community engagement, and a spirit of connection within the field.

Working with Monique

Over the years of working with many clients, Monique has come to see a profound connection between the emotional and physical landscapes of the body. Our thoughts, feelings, and suppressed emotions often find subtle ways to express themselves through the body — sometimes as discomfort, fatigue, or a sense of unease that we can’t quite name.

When she began integrating essential oils into both her personal life and professional practice, a new depth unfolded. Essential oils carry a vibrational intelligence that helps us explore what lies beneath the surface — the emotions, memories, and inner stories waiting to be acknowledged.

Emotions such as grief, anger, sadness, judgment, or low self-worth cannot thrive in a body seeking harmony. Through the gentle language of scent, these feelings often find a way to soften, shift, or release. Each essential oil carries both a contracted and expansive aspect and as clients begin to smell and connect with the oils, they often experience spontaneous memories or sensations that open the door to deeper healing.

During the nurturing component of Reflexology on the face, feet, or hands, Monique uses a delicate rosehip oil and beeswax to soothe and replenish. Reflexology supports the body’s natural healing process, releasing tension and promoting deep relaxation — both emotionally and physically.

Through rhythmic touch and mindful presence, the body is guided into a state of calm and restoration.
